Lady Aquarius was only the second succulent I painted and the largest piece I had attempted, where I quickly discovered how much I love working big. This echeveria, one of over 150 succulent species, is known for its soft blue, delicately ruffled leaves. Succulents symbolize persistence and determination, thriving in tough conditions and even regenerating from fallen leaves, an inspiring symbol of resilience.
The name Lady Aquarius comes from the plant itself. As an Aquarius, I felt an instant connection. While working on this painting, I injured my hand and needed surgery, which kept me out of the studio for months. When I finally returned, I was hesitant to pick it back up, but I was determined to finish. The title reflects both the plant’s resilience and my own.
Oil on canvas, painting continues around the edges. The signature is painted on the right side of the canvas. The piece is wired and ready to hang. Keep out of direct sunlight to preserve its vibrant hues.
